Faces and Places
While at the Guggenheim I ran into these two girls. Was not able to catch their names but they were from Vancouver via France. It got me thinking some of a few different people that I have came across.
Gypsy George
Gypsy is part of Todd's Band. We often run into each other at The Roots. It is a bohemian coffee bar in Brooklyn. He gave me the suggestion of buying cheap clothes instead of washing clothes. The Gypsy part, of Gypsy George comes from how he has lived all over. From Chicago-land to California to New York as well as others. When I brought up Chicago he had been every where there as well. From Libertyville to Buffalo Grove to the city.
Ken
Ken told me that, "Howard Stern is going to be coming through Central park. I know because I come here during this time usually." He went to talk about his family. Then the subject turned to his wild times of the Manhattan Bar scene of the late 60s and Early 70s. We then started going back and forth about sports and about New York and Chicago.
Jared
Todd took me to the Village to get records. When we got there Todd called up a friend he hadn't talked to in a while. When Jared showed up he asked us to his nearby apartment. Four minutes later we get to the front door and he had left his keys inside and we were locked out. He tried calling his wife even though she was 20 minutes away. Then, someone let us in the first door. The halls of his building are the way that I picture Paris. Todd and Jared talked about their families and eventually we got into his place.
All you have to do is ask "Are you a New Yorker?", in the right way and then, listen.

Saturday

1:00pm - 6:00 When we were strolling through Brooklyn I wanted to get a few vinyl records to add to my collection of 10 or so. On the way passed by brown stones, antique shops, and finished by finding The Big Chill Soundtrack on 78.
1:00 - 3:30am The last stop of the night was a bar called K&M. How I was lured there was not important. What is important about this bar that it has no sign, it actually says gyros on their sign. It is a place where upper east siders meet only because it is difficult to get to, and difficult to find. The L track runs horizontally from Manhattan to get to Brooklyn. This means that unless you live in the area your trip home will be a bit longer than usual.
I came in wearing a bulls 3 peat jersey. What really took me by surprise was what happened on that way out. I was stopped by someone who grew up in Chicagoland, and we shared some sentiment of the burbs.

NY
Everyone is happy to help with directions or information, but will completely ignore you if you say another word.
Depending on the day,
depending on the train,
you will get a different form of
musical, theatrical, entertainment.
Having someone's accent change when saying the word Brooklyn or Yankees.

Shakespearean Dilemma
My plan was to get a student priced ticket to see Hamlet. When Todd (pictured right) and I got to the box office there was an older lady who was selling tickets for this Hamlet show. After five minutes of talking to this lady about how good her seats compared were to the box office tickets. I then went inside to buy the tickets.
"Did you see Jude Law head into the theater?" Todd asked me.
"No", I replied.
"Jude Law just jumped out of his car and headed into the theater, when you were busy arguing with that old lady about tickets", Todd said.
I responded by saying "You are lying. If a movie star walks by you would of said something."
"That is not how things work around here, when a celebrity walks by it is understood that you leave them alone." Todd finished by saying.
So I did not get to see Jude law four feet away from from me. But I did get a chance to see Mario Lopez (A.C. Slater) doing the show Extra in Times Square.
